Just Two Questions

Two questions... You are walking along a path. On each side of the path the mud is thick.
Cattle have also used this path and have added their contributions. As you walk, there in the biggest, muddiest and most gross area of the path, you see a sparkle. You stop, bend down and to your amazement, you find that it is a huge diamond. Two questions:
(1) Do you bother to put your hand into all this muck and pick the diamond up?
(2) Is the diamond any less valuable because it is covered in mud and the other stuff

Just for today I will not worry.
