Well having written my last blog, blow me down, up popped this; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11462595
It appears that nearly all of Europe is now a no-go area, due it seems to terrorist threats. Not that anything has happened but I am told there are good reasons to believe that they might. It seems to me that the terrorists have already won this round without even doing anything.
Mind you, with all this publicity they are almost duty bound to have a go; a sort of self-fulfilling prophesy. They can’t loose really. Only we can.
Today everyone I have spoken to is sick of all this spin and worry.
Where, they ask, is this information coming from? All of a sudden it’s headline news, the next day it’s gone, nowhere to be found. What’s it all about and by the way whatever happened to swine flu? Oops! Sorry, I forgot it’s due again next year. Ok, how about mad cow, bird flu, asteroids, giant waves, massive earthquakes, sunspots or Abba making a come back, all these imminent disasters have their 15 minutes and then dissolve back into the ether. I didn’t mention WMD’s ‘cos that’s too easy.
What these reports do is keep us in a state of worry and tension, or maybe more importantly distract us from what is really happening.
Remember “It’s a good day to bury bad news”? I do.
Can someone explain to me why a suicide bomber can drive his truck into a crowd and get an easy result in their own country but when they come over here in the west they feel the need to blow up a plane which seems altogether much harder?
One feels there is more to the matter than we are told. Mind you, I am getting on a bit so maybe I have missed something.
Well, now I am fed up too. I don’t know who or what to believe but I am going to do something about it and if you feel up to it I could do with your help.
We can do something simple and gentle that can change the world.
